Green Day and Twilight???

Green Day + Twilight should not equal their new track "The Forgotten".

So Green Day's new single will be present on the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack.

They just released the video today and it certainly makes me sad.

Previously I had thought that this punk trio was about the music and not the money. They are probably making tons of money off this track for the movie! Twilight is a HUGE franchise if you weren't aware.

On the the recent October issue of Alternative Press, they got the cover and it said "Green Day: Still Punk as F**k".

How can one be "punk as f**ck" and make a music video for the new Twilight movie????????

What has this world come to?

Underoath Releases "Sunburnt"

Underoath released one of their two final songs that they recorded, "Sunburnt".

This track will also be on their Anthology 1999-2013 which is currently on pre-order.

I love the track, it reminds me of They're Only Chasing Safety and Disambiguation put together into one song.

Def check it out and pre-order the album! I know I did!

Fun. Release "Carry On" Video

Photo Cred: Bo Williams Photography

The insanely popular trio, Fun. has released their 3rd music video from their sophomore record Some Nights"Carry On".

The feel of the video is very much a "drinking song". There is a scene in the video that is the band at a bar with a whole group of people singing the lyrics and raising their glasses in agreement.

Great quality of video and I love the different places that they filmed. They show a lot of clips from their live show which is brilliant.

If you ever get a chance to see them live, DO IT! They played at my college in the spring and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Lacey leaves Flyleaf

Flyleaf's long time frontwoman, Lacey Sturm, will be leaving the band. Replacing her will be Kristen May who used to play in Vedera.

The band's new release New Horizons  will be her final production with the band. The album will be up for pre-order on the 30th of October.

I am extremely sad to see her go but I completely understand her choice.

Between Memento Mori and the new record she has become a wife and mother. Her family needs her and her time with Flyleaf is now over.

To read the band's comments and Lacey's message check it at that link!

Flyleaf's music has helped shape who I am as a person and was also something that really helped me grow spiritually and emotionally throughout high school.

It really sucks that all of the bands that I once adored are calling it quits. I guess that's what happens to every great band eventually.

Thank God there is still Bob Dylan!

Phinehas

Phinehas, a metal band with Red Cord Records, has just released a new music video!!

These 4 guys from California know how to shred and really make some music tracks. Their skills are showcased in their 2011 release thegodmachine

The video for "My Horses Are Many" is absolutely hilarious. The song totally doesn't match the scene but for some reason it works.

The band is at a mini golf/go-kart/arcade place and they are singing along with the words, playing their instruments, and causing a ruckus.

What is also hilarious is that the frontman, Sean McCulloch, will be centered in the shot and random backgrounds will flash behind him. It's crazy!

So definitely check out the video if you are in the mood for a good laugh.

Anberlin

Anberlin's album Vital was FINALLY released on Tuesday the 16th. And all I can say is: fantastic. This album may be the quintets best work.

I have been a fan of the Orlando based band since I was in high school. When they were just leaving Tooth and Nail Records for Universal Records.

That choice was a great one even though I love TNR. If they wouldn't have switched over, the quality of their music would not have reached the potential that it is at now. They are now no longer constrained to the "Christian band"label which allowed them to create music more freely.

The record has songs that are all unique in their own way. Some tracks are edgier and something that will they will certainly play at their live shows ("Self-Starter", "Little Tyrants", "Someone Anyone").  Then there are tracks that show a completely different side of the band musically ("Innocent", "Type Three") with strings and slight synth.

I actually don't know if synth is the word I want to use...like there was the use of technology to make certain sounds and blend the sounds.

One of the best things about Anberlin is their really deep and passionate lyrics. Their emotions are so palpable and relatable to the listener. It's beautiful!

I give this album 4/5! Great stuff, guys!!

Check out the album on Spotify!

Miss May I

Miss May I is one of the most popular bands with Rise Records. They rocked across the country this summer on Vans Warped Tour and they are now going to be headlining the Alternative Press Tour this fall.

The band released their latest video for the song "Day by Day" from their 2012 record At Heart.

The video is a riot and the band is arrested and put into a police van. Yeah, it's pretty sick. It's in black and white and you never really get a clear shot of anything which is how a real riot would be like, unstable.

Def check it out!

I am going to try and get a Spotify player for this blog so I will be able to put music with each post! I am super stoked and cannot wait to amp this page up.

Sleeping With Sirens

Sleeping With Sirens, the Rise Records sensation, as just released a new music video!

The video is for the song "Roger Rabbit" off their latest EP release "If This Were a Movie, This Would be Your Soundtrack".

This EP showcases frontman Kellin Quinn's vocal crooning abilities. He is melting every girl's heart with his romantic lyrics and gentle voice.

Kind of reminds me of Never Shout Never to a degree.

After seeing this video I am going to give this band a second try. I listened to their full length from 2011 "Let's Cheers to This" and was disappointed.

I disliked his voice because I didn't think it meshed with the alternative sound of the band. But maybe now I am going to listen once again.

Here are some more SWS videos that rock:
"If You Can't Hang"
"If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn" (this song is old but good)
"Do It Now, Remember It Later"

Onward to Olympas

Onward to Olympas is a hardcore band signed with Facedown Records from North Carolina.

They gained notoriety in 2010 with their album "This World is Not My Home" and getting the chance to play at large festivals like Cornerstone and Purple Door Festival.

Their sophomore album "Indicator" is dropping on October 9th which you can pre-order and receive various bundles and stuffs.

Today they released their first single off the record, Wolf's Jaw. And I must say that I have never seen a dude get so incredibly sweaty so quickly.

I'm sure it took a while to film and it probably gets really hot when you're playing but OH MAN this guy is sweaty!!

This guy needs a shower.

Underoath Tracks to Mourn To

Alternative Press's Matthew Colwell and millions of others across the globe are in mourning of Underoath declaring their break up this week.

So Matt was so kind enough to create the Top 10 Underoath tracks to mourn their break up over.

He has tracks from Changing of Times up to their most recent Disambiguation. Each choice is spot on, I wouldn't change the list at all!

So you can listen to the tracks and cry as much as you need to. Don't worry, you're not alone.

Texas in July

Texas in July is releasing their self-titled album on October 9th with Equal Vision Records.

But lucky for everybody who doesn't want to spend money! Revolver Magazine has their entire track list up to listen to for free by clicking that link.

If you are really digging the record then you can pre-order it right here! There are multiple bundles with shirts, hats, and posters!

Underoath is Over

Underoath has officially decided to end their long 15 year journey. After releasing numerous mind blowing albums, creating crazy music videos, and touring the world, they are calling it quits.

You can read their farewell on their Facebook and try not to shed a tear while reading it.

Their main reasoning is that they are just closing this chapter. That it is time for all of them to move on and try something new.

They will be releasing a "career retrospective album" called "Anthology 1999-2013". It will include fan favorites from all of their previously released albums and two new songs. This will be coming out on November 6th with Solid State Records.

This band and their music has been such a huge part of the last few years of my life. I remember when somebody introduced them to me and I said, "Everybody likes Underoath therefore they can't be good."

And boy was I wrong! They have been one of my favorite bands since I was 15 and couldn't imagine my high school years without them. They brought me into the hardcore scene which resulted in me listening to heavier music, buying skinny jeans, and frequently attending various shows.

Without them I don't think I would be the same person that I am today.

Question!? What is your favorite album or song of theirs? And more importantly, WHY DO YOU LOVE UNDEROATH?

Please comment. I will love you.

Anchor and Braille "Goes Without Saying" Video

Anchor and Braille (I have posted on these guys before) is a duo of Stephen Christian from Anberlin and some other cute dude, who make wonderful music.

They just released their latest music video for "Goes Without Saying" from their second album "The Quiet Life".

I love the song and also the video. It is just a story of a hipster couple going on an adventure for the day. They go to the thrift store, gas station, jump in a hotel pool, and set off fireworks.

It just...works. I really like it and you should check it out!!

A Past Unknown

A Past Unknown started following me on Twitter (along with a bunch of other metal bands that I've never heard of) so I thought that I would write up a blog post about them! I will probably be doing promos for these other bands that follow me as well so get psyched!

This metalcore band reigns from the plains of Iowa and has been together since 2009.

They have a "get to know the band" video that you can check out here. It's about how they got together (which was via Facebook message) and why the band does what they do.

They are now signed with Red Cord Records and came out with their first full length in 2011 called "To Those Perishing".

The band is about to release their sophomore album "Vainglory" which will be available on the 9th of this month, it'll be on iTunes or you can get a physical at their merch site.

So I've been listening to their album a bit in these few minutes that I've been writing up this blog and I really dig their stuff! I am excited to see what they are bringing to the table when they're album drops.

Here are some videos you can check out!
"Curses"
"Nothing to Hide"

For more A Past Unknown check out their Facebook, Twitter, and listen to their album on Spotify!

POP SHUVIT

Pop Shuvit has come across my path and I am really glad that they did. They are a Malaysian group that has been around since 2001. Yeah and that's not a typo. They got together when I was 8...I'm 19 now.

Their music style is a mix of alternative and hip hop with some sweet techno beats. Each song is something completely different which is quite refreshing.

They only have like 24,000 likes on their Facebook which I find really odd because of the talent that this group possesses.

Maybe 2012 will be there year and they will finally sign to an actual label and get exposure throughout the world.

The only place that I can really find their music is on their website. Def check them out! They could use the exposure!
